Sure, most people are counting down to the return of another HBO show for its eighth and final season on April 14, but don’t let your HBO subscription lapse before then. The premium network has just announced March 31 as the season two premiere date for “Barry,” its critically acclaimed and award-winning series starring Bill Hader.

The season premiere picks up from the cliffhanger of season one. We named it as the #2 show of last year, behind only “Atlanta,” praising:
“It’s as genuinely profound a series about acting as we’ve ever seen, even while it scores plenty of gags at the expense of its hopefuls (largely thanks to Henry Winkler’s mighty performance). But it was also arguably the first show that we’ve seen that really learned from the lessons of “Breaking Bad” with its plotting and sense of tragedy, constantly dumping our anti-hero in worse and worse situations that seem inescapable. Gorgeously directed throughout, it was easily our favorite new show of the year.”

If you missed the show last year (best get to watching, people), here’s the official description from HBO:
Hader stars in the title role as a hitman who, after following his intended target to an acting class, finds himself intrigued and decides to become an actor and change his life. As well as starring in the series, Hader will direct episodes of the show, marking his directorial debut. Other cast regulars include Stephen Root (HBO’s “All the Way”), Sarah Goldberg (“Hindsight”), Glenn Fleshler (HBO’s “True Detective”), Anthony Carrigan (“Gotham”) and Henry Winkler (“Arrested Development”).”
