Ryan Reynolds Confirms ‘Deadpool 3’ Is In The Works at Marvel Studios

One of the big questions following the Fox acquisition by Disney (well, after the massive layoffs, and the cancellation of many Fox projects, and the evils of monopolies) was about the plans that Marvel Studios and Disney had for “Deadpool”, and whether we’d see the “Merc with a Mouth” in the mainstream Marvel Universe. Well, give it to Ryan Reynolds to put the worries at rest with a simple confirmation.

According to Comicbook.com, during an appearance on “Live With Kelly and Ryan” Reynolds addressed the question of the future of his successful “X-Men” spinoff character. “Yeah we’re working on it right now with the whole team,” Reynolds said. “We’re over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kinda crazy. So yeah, we’re working on it.”

Of course, this doesn’t answer the question of whether Deadpool will get to meet The Avengers, or even if it will remain R-rated, but those who were more concerned with the franchise continuing after the merge instead of the death of repertoire screenings for Fox movies should be pleased. As for the R-rating, it would be counterproductive for studios to completely dismiss R-rated comicbook movies, after both “Deadpool” and “Joker” became huge, record-breaking successes. Even Rob Liefeld, the comic writer and artist credited as Deadpool’s creator, talked to Variety about the inevitability of Disney making more “Deadpool” movies.

“You know, I just hope they can get it together. Fans want it. Fans want to see it. The whole thing about Deadpool is that culture moves so fast now and two years ago feels like twenty. There were two R-rated movies — and they were R-rated movies — that together made $1.2 billion and yes, I looked at those and counted them up.”
