Justin Timberlake To Star In Apple TV+ Series Remake Of ‘Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind’

It’s hard to believe that it has been nearly 20 years since George Clooney made his directorial debut with the film, “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.” The film, starring Sam Rockwell in a breakout role, is based on the memoir of the same name from “Gong Show” host Chuck Barris, who claimed that his game show duties were a cover for his real job as a CIA assassin in the ‘60s and ‘70s. And much like a slew of other popular films released over the past 20 years, it appears that a remake is in order.

According to Deadline, Apple TV+ has won the auction for the rights to produce and distribute a new series based on the 1984 memoir, “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” from Chuck Barris. And it appears the project also has its lead already picked out, with Justin Timberlake on board to star as the “Gong Show” host/purported CIA operative. The series comes from showrunner David Hollander, who is probably best known for his previous work on the Showtime drama series, “Ray Donovan.” The pilot script is written by Jon Worley, who previously wrote for “Justified” and Marvel’s “Iron Fist.”

Timberlake is definitely best known for his superstar career as a pop icon dating back to his time in the group NSYNC. However, over the years, he has consistently dabbled in acting, appearing in projects such as “The Social Network,” “Bad Teacher,” and “Runner Runner.” Most recently, he starred in the drama “Palmer,” which was also released by Apple TV+.

There’s no timeframe for when we might see the new series based on “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” but with Timberlake attached, it’s clearly a project that Apple TV+ is going to want in production as soon as possible.
