The question always comes up when a studio announces another adaptation of a classic story—how many versions are too many? Well, in the case of “The Three Musketeers,” the classic tale from author Alexandre Dumas, we have yet to reach that breaking point. In fact, there’s room for not one new film, but two.

As revealed by Pathé studio, there are two new ‘Three Musketeers’ films coming in 2023 with a pretty great cast of French actors. The two films, “The Three Musketeers – D’Artagnan” and “The Three Musketeers – Milady” are set to tell the classic tale in 2023 with a cast that includes folks such as Vincent Cassel, Eva Green, Louis Garrel, and Vicky Krieps, amongst many more like Lyna Khoudri (“The French Dispatch”) and Romain Duris (“The Beat That My Heart Skipped”). Those who are familiar with the source material will know “The Three Musketeers” tells the story of the young D’Artagnan as he joins the group known as the Three Musketeers, a group of swashbucklers out for justice.
Both films are set to be directed by Martin Bourboulon, who is known for his previous features, “Daddy or Mommy,” “Divorce French Style,” and “Eiffel,” the latter of which was released this year. The new ‘Three Musketeers’ features are written by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière.

“The Three Musketeers – D’Artagnan” is set to arrive in French and Swiss theaters on April 5, 2023, followed by “The Three Musketeers – Milady” on December 13, 2023. Obviously, there’s no news about when we might see the two-part story in other territories around the world.
