Back in December, it was announced that Robert De Niro would be making the leap to TV with a new limited series, titled “Zero Day.” Now, it appears the actor has surrounded himself with a great supporting cast for the upcoming Netflix series.
According to Netflix, Robert De Niro is set to be joined by Lizzy Caplan (“Fleishman Is in Trouble”), Jesse Plemons (“Power of The Dog”), Joan Allen (“The Bourne Ultimatum”), and Connie Britton (“The White Lotus”) in the upcoming series “Zero Day.” The Netflix limited series is a six-episode tale where De Niro will play a former President of the United States who is pulled back into public life to help prevent a global cyber-attack. Caplan is set to play his daughter, while Allen will play his wife.
“Zero Day” is co-created by Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim, and Michael S. Schmidt. All six of the episodes will be directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, who is probably best known for her work on Emmy-winning series such as “Mad Men” and “Homeland.” She has been nominated for a number of Primetime Emmys, as well as DGA awards.
No release date has announced for the new series.
Here’s the synopsis for the limited series:
Zero Day asks the question on everyone’s mind — how do we find truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly being torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even of our own imagining?
