Some ghosts demand an origin story, and “The Terminal List: Dark Wolf” is Prime Video’s answer. Set years before the events of the original series, the prequel drags Ben Edwards out of the shadows to reveal how a decorated Navy SEAL became a conflicted CIA operative. Taylor Kitsch takes the lead in a role he almost didn’t revisit, joined by Chris Pratt, Tom Hopper, Luke Hemsworth, Dar Salim, Rona-Lee Shimon, Shiraz Tzarfati, Robert Wisdom, and Jared Shaw.
The creative firepower is formidable—Kitsch and Pratt executive produce alongside showrunner David DiGilio, novelist Jack Carr, and Antoine Fuqua. Their ambitions for the prequel are clear: this isn’t filler content, but an expansion of the franchise’s mythology. Prime Video is rolling out the first three episodes on August 27, with weekly drops until September 24.

Kitsch has admitted that he did not want to step back into Edwards’ headspace. “I didn’t want to play him again,” he told IGN, pointing to how draining the betrayal and guilt of the character had been. But the script cracked that resistance. “When I read how they wanted to dive into Ben, the CIA work, the broken loyalty—it became something I couldn’t walk away from.” That admission mirrors the show itself: a man resisting his past but ultimately consumed by it.
Pratt has described the project as a level-up from season one of “The Terminal List,” saying he was moved to tears watching early cuts. His James Reece will still factor into the story, though “Dark Wolf” belongs to Kitsch. The prequel’s promise lies in its willingness to peel back the skin of Edwards’ choices and show the haunted foundations of what came later.
May our courage exceed our level of violence. Stream The Terminal List: Dark Wolf August 27 on Prime Video.
