Watch: David Gordon Green Breaks Down A Scene From ‘Joe’ Starring Nicolas Cage

After spending a few years in the studio system with comedies likePineapple Express” and “Your Highness,” David Gordon Green is firmly back in the indie world with the one-two punch of last year’s “Prince Avalanche” and the newly released Nicolas Cage-starring “Joe.” As the new film opens in select theaters this weekend, a video from The New York Times has arrived online, with Green breaking down one of the film’s scenes.

Running just over a minute-and-a-half, Green provides a short commentary on one of the film’s earliest scenes where Tye Sheridan first runs into Cage’s character as he works in the woods. It’s great little taste of what the film has to offer without spoiling what comes after and illuminates some of Green’s methods, namely using non-traditional actors alongside Cage and Sheridan.

Watch the scene with Green’s commentary below. “Joe” is now open in limited release.
