Got a Tip?

Jamie Foxx Wants To Scare With A Syfy Horror Series He’ll Produce, Write & Direct

Jamie FoxxPerhaps the best advice any actor can receive is to diversify and Jamie Foxx — who first became known for his comedy — seems to be taking that to heart. He starred in the hit comedy “Horrible Bosses” (sequel on the way) before stepping into Quentin Tarantino‘s “Django Unchained,” and he’ll next play the President in “White House Down,” Electro in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” and also do a voice role in “Rio 2.” Now he’s dipping his toes into a wholly new genre — well, actually, he’s throwing his whole body in the pool….

Deadline reveals that Foxx will produce, write and direct (and possibly pop up in) an untitled horror series for Syfy. And this isn’t some pie-in-the-sky thing that will develop forever and go nowhere — it’s coming this Halloween. The show, which will apparently be like “Tales From The Crypt” and “The Twilight Zone,” will tell “creepy morality tales with themes such as envy, jealousy and superficiality.” And frankly, given that “horror” these days tends to mean “no tripods, loud noises and bad framing,” hopefully this is a sign that Foxx’s show can be smart and spooky. So yeah, we’ll try and be optimistic.

Writers are on board, everything seems to be in place, and with five months to go until Syfy’s “31 Days Of Halloween” programming slate, Foxx will have to get crackin’ soon on the five episodes he’ll deliver.
