Alexander Skarsgard & Michael Pena Declare ‘War On Everyone’ In Film’s First Red-Band Trailer

Sadly, “The Nice Guys” failed to make the R-rated buddy-cop comedy big again: the film was very good, but box office has been disappointing. Could “Calvary” director John Michael McDonagh, who had some success in the genre with the enormously entertaining “The Guard” a few years back, have more joy with “War On Everyone?”

Alexander Skarsgard and Michael Pena are the heroes in his latest film, though heroes might be a stretch — these guys, a pair of corrupt New Mexico cops, have more in common with Harvey Keitel in “Bad Lieutenant” than “Starsky & Hutch.” And you can get your first chance to see them, and the rest of the cast, including fast-rising star Tessa Thompson, and “Divergent” star Theo James, in action in the first teaser trailer for the movie, which just landed via Den Of Geek.

It’s red-band stuff — very sweary, and with some nudity too — and suggests something very energetic and entertaining. Jess had fun with the film in Berlin, up to a point (read her review here), and we’re certainly keen to see it. It opens on September 30th in the UK, with Saban Films set to open it down the line in the U.S. Take a look at the trailer above.
