Amanda Bynes Retires; Christopher Doyle To Shoot A Soft Porn Musical; 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' Trailer Throws Stuff At Your Face & More

Amanda Bynes has tweeted her retirement saying, “Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem. If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it.” She went on to tweet, “I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first. I’ve #retired.” If true, her last role will be in the upcoming Emma Stone comedy “Easy A.” She was also apparently cast and then let go from the upcoming comedy “Hall Pass” with Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis and Jenna Fischer. No word yet if a hip hop career is on the horizon.

Martin Sheen has joined the cast of “The Double.” The film “revolves around the murder of a senator and the two FBI agents who track down the assassin.” Richard Gere, Topher Grace and Stephen Moyer star in the film directed by Michael Brandt.

Daniel Kaluuya has joined “Johnny English 2,” and is set to play a fellow agent across from Rowan Atkinson’s bumbling spy in a film that will find the hero trying to find traitors insider Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Kaluuya was mostly recently seen in Hideo Nakata’s Cannes entry “Chatroom” and the BBC shows “Psychoville” and “Skins.”

Wendy Crewson (“The Santa Clause”) has joined the biopic “Winnie” with Terrence Howard and Jennifer Hudson playing Winnie and Nelson Mandela. Crewson is set for the role of Mary Botha, a social worker who befriends the Mandelas during the fight against apartheid, and faces harassment for her efforts. The film is currently shooting in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Robbin Island.
Celebrated cinematographer Christopher Doyle is set to man the cameras for Imaoki Shinji’s “Underwater Love.” The interesting part? Apparently it’s a pinku musical. What’s pinku? Essentially Japanese soft porn. Yeah, we’re interested.

William Shatner is prepping a documentary about his life and career titled “The Captains.” Production will begin next month and the film will air on Canada’s Movie Central Channel next year. No word yet if he will also be penning the soundtrack.

Ashton Kutcher has revealed that he once auditioned for “Superman.” While doing press rounds for “Killers” he said, “There is [footage of my audition out there], with Keri Russell, who was reading Lois [Lane]. There’s me in a Clark Kent outfit, and then there’s me in a Superman outfit.” He believes he auditioned for the film back when Brett Ratner was temporarily in the director’s seat. The mind reels….

The latest trailer for “Resident Evil: Afterlife” has arrived and guarantees the film, shot in 3D using the same cameras James Cameron did for “Avatar,” will have a lot of shit flying at your face. While we’re pretty sure the movie will be terrible, we have to say the teenage fanboy in us kind of dug the closing clip of a sword-wielding Milla Jovovich. The film hits theaters on September 10th.
