One of the most critically acclaimed series of the year, in fact, the century, Tony Gilroy’s “Andor” found some Emmy love for its second and final season. Perhaps not all the recognition fans were hoping for, but a respectable amount, including a key Original Drama Series nomination. The Lucasfilm and Disney+ series previously landed a Drama Series nod in 2023.

The good news for 2025 was that the series also duplicated its nominations in the Original Writing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Direction for a Drama Series. Other nominations included Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series, Forest Whitaker, Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series, Dan Gilroy, Outstanding Music Composition For A Series (Original Dramatic Score), Outstanding Cinematography For A Series (One Hour), and Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Season Or A Movie. It also earned nominations for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Period or Fantasy Program, Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, and more.
The disappointing news was that few of the celebrated actors were nominated outside of Whitaker. Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgard, and Genevieve O’Reilly were all snubbed. O’Reilly had the most competitive category, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Still, while Luna had a shot, he was hindered by the fact that Actor in a Drama Series was cut to just five nominees from six for the first time since 2006. Skarsgard was on the outside looking in for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, but he can sleep easily knowing an Oscar nomination for “Sentimental Value” is almost six months away.
“Andor” season two is already one of the most acclaimed series of 2025, landing a 92 grade on Metacritic and a TCA Award nomination for Program of the Year.
“Andor” is available to stream on Disney+.
The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ on September 14 at 5 PM PT, 8 PM ET.
