'Avengers: Infinity War' Moves Up Release Date For Global Domination

Studios know better than to dare try and compete with a Marvel movie. When “Avengers: Infinity War” threw down the gauntlet for May 4th, no one around town scheduled anything against it, rightly assuming they would be steamrolled. However, Disney has now moved the hugely anticipated blockbuster up a week, ensuring it own the box office for weeks on end.

“Avengers: Infinity War” will now open on April 27th in the United States, which matches the international date that had already been set for the picture (so, don’t worry, some random dude in England won’t spoil the movie for you). It’s a massive move that ensure total global domination for the movie. STX Entertainment is probably pissed that their Amy Schumer comedy “I Feel Pretty” will now square off against the biggest movie in the galaxy. But Marvel wants that Marvel money, because between April 27th and May 18th when “Deadpool 2” comes out, there are no tentpole releases on the calendar. None. That’s three weeks they can spend gobbling up every dollar they can, before “Deadpool 2” hits, with “Solo: A Star Wars Story” arriving the following week.

In short, “Avengers: Infinity War” is going to own every screen around you this spring. See you on April 27th.
