'Bodyguard' Trailer: 'Game Of Thrones' Star Richard Madden Must Save A Politician In New Netflix Thriller

Fresh off the entirety of the UK believing he’s next in line to take over the role of James Bond, Richard Madden is a name on many people’s minds over the last couple days. In a bit of fortuitous timing, Netflix has just released the trailer for his upcoming, highly-anticipated series “Bodyguard,” to give viewers a chance to see Madden in action.

“Bodyguard” tells a story that seems very simple on the surface. As seen in the new trailer, a former police officer and soldier, David Budd (Madden), is hired to guard the Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes). However, as you might expect, things don’t go completely to plan as the Home Secretary is attacked, which gives way to conspiracies and double-crossing.

Madden is probably best known, outside of the recent Bond rumors, for his role in the HBO series “Game of Thrones.” In the fantasy drama, the actor portrayed the heroic Rob Stark, who met his untimely death at the hands of his own wedding guests. Outside of that, Madden has popped up here and there, appearing in the recent Netflix film “Ibiza” and the upcoming Elton John biopic “Rocketman.”

“Bodyguard” has already been seen in the UK thanks to BBC and hits globally on Netflix on October 24.

Here’s the synopsis:

Set in and around the corridors of power, Bodyguard tells the story of David Budd (Richard Madden), a heroic, but volatile war veteran now working as a Specialist Protection Officer for London’s Metropolitan Police Service. When he is assigned to protect the ambitious Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes), Budd finds himself torn between his duty and his beliefs. Responsible for her safety, could he become her biggest threat? Bodyguard arrives on Netflix on October 24.
