As the newest Oscar driven TV spot for "Silver Linings Playbook" reveals, Bradley Cooper is part of the historic cast of David O. Russell's latest who are the first ensemble in over thirty years to get nominated in every category. And to be certain, the calls keep coming for the actor, and one of the first post-nomination rings has arrived from Warner Bros.
The studio has nabbed Cooper to star in "Dark Invasion." Based on upcoming book by Howard Blum (set to be released not so coincidentally on September 11th), the movie is a true story tale set in 1915, when Germany decides to send their secret service to the United States to wage a covert war on the still neutral nation, and prevent them from helping the Allies. Cooper will play NYPD Captain Tom Tunney who will assemble a team to track the spies down, who have set up an anthrax lab six miles from the White House, shot at financier J.P. Morgan, bombed factories and ships and more. So basically, it's "Gangster Squad," just mid-WWI.
The project is in development so it could be a way off yet, but you can see Cooper as a cop this spring in "The Place Beyond The Pines" which opens on March 29th. [Deadline]
