Robert Pattinson is having a big week at the Berlin International Film Festival, with two films unspooling: Werner Herzog‘s "The Queen Of The Desert" (review here) and Anton Corbijn‘s "Life" (we’ll have our verdict soon). The actor is staying busy, currently shooting Brady Corbet’s "Childhood Of A Leader," and now he’s gearing up to reteam with his "The Rover" co-star Guy Pearce. Pattinson and Carice Van Houten are joining Pearce and Mia Wasikowska in the western "Brimstone." Martin Koolhoven will direct the film that follows "a heroine on the run from her past and a diabolical preacher." Production starts in May. [Screen Daily]
Nicolas Cage is putting on his sailing stripes for “USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage.” Mario Van Peebles will direct the true story tale that centers on "Capt. Charles Butler McVay, whose ship was torpedoed in the South Pacific in July 1945, after delivering parts for the first atomic bombs. Of 1,196 crewmen aboard, approximately 300 went down with the ship, while the rest faced exposure, dehydration, saltwater poisoning, and shark attacks as they waited for assistance. Only 317 sailors survived, and McVay was court-martialed then exonerated more than half a century later." Filming starts in June, and a Memorial Day 2016 release has already been slated. [Variety]
Olga Kurylenko and Jordi Molla are pairing up for "Duelo." The thriller will follow "a famous actress who engages in a game of cat-and-mouse with the person who years earlier viciously attacked her fiancé and left him in a coma." Molla and Giuseppe Ferlito will direct. [Screen Daily]
Samuel L. Jackson has joined Asa Butterfield and Eva Green in Tim Burton‘s "Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children." He’ll be playing Barron in the film that opens on March 4, 2016. [Deadline]
