As for the big 4K UHD releases in November, those are led by “Citizen Kane,” which is arriving on the new format, marking the first official Criterion UHD release. While a 4K release of the Orson Welles classic isn’t anything to scoff at, it’s clear Criterion is playing on tradition since “Citizen Kane” marked Criterion’s first LaserDisc release decades ago. Joining “Citizen Kane” in the 4K UHD release batch in November are “Menace II Society” and “Mulholland Dr,” two films that couldn’t differ more from Welles’ feature, but film fans will be excited to see like never before.

Joining the 4K releases is the “Once Upon a Time in China: The Complete Films.” This 6-disc box set collects all five of the “Once Upon a Time in China” features, which helped launch Jet Li into superstardom and still stand as iconic films in the Hong Kong film industry. The first three films feature new 4K restorations, while the final two are sporting new 2K versions. Last but certainly not least is the release of Federico Fellini’s heart-wrenching fable, “La Strada,” which is making its debut on Blu-ray. This is clearly a film that many cinephiles will rush to get on Blu-ray when it’s released this fall.

You can pre-order all of these films at Criterion’s website.
