'Crooked House' Clip: Glenn Close Asks What Are Murderers Like?

The world’s most famous mystery writer, Agatha Christie, is back in the spotlight in a big way. The success of “Murder On The Orient Express” has sparked development on a follow-up, with the adaptation of Death On The Nile” now in the works. However, that movie may be a bit of a way off, so if you need another fix of murderous thrills, it’s time to put “Crooked House” on your radar.

Directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner (“Dark Places,” “Sarah’s Key“) and featuring a top-shelf ensemble including Glenn Close, Christina Hendricks, Gillian Anderson and Max Irons, the adaptation of one of Christie’s personal favorites, follows a private detective tasked with untangling the truth behind the murder of his former lover’s grandfather. In Agatha Christie’s most twisted tale, the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a wealthy patriarch is investigated by spy-turned-private-detective Charles Hayward (Max Irons), who is lured by his former lover to catch her grandfather’s murderer before Scotland Yard exposes dark family secrets. On the sprawling estate, amidst a poisonous atmosphere of bitterness, resentment and jealousy in a truly crooked house, Hayward encounters three generations of the dynasty, including a theater actress (Gillian Anderson), the old man’s widow 50 years his junior (Christina Hendricks), and the family matriarch Lady Edith de Haviland (Glenn Close).
