A little more than two weeks after a shortlist emerged with for the new Harry Osborne with Sam Claflin, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Brady Corbet, Alden Ehrenreich and Boyd Holbrook all in the running, Marc Webb has announced that it's Dane DeHaan who has landed the role in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."
The actor is coming off a great 2012, already flexing some superhero muscle in the surprise smash hit "Chronicle," and impressing in John Hillcoat's "Lawless" and in Derek Cianfrance's "The Place Beyond The Pines," which lands in theaters next year. Of course, comic fans know Harry is the best bud of Peter Parker, and this casting seems to suggest that we're going to get Green Goblin again in this new trilogy. As you know, the sequels are pursuing an arc that will see Gwen Stacey get killed off as she was in the comics, and part of the catalyst of Norman Osborne's actions that lead to her killing is the accidental drug overdose of Harry. Dark stuff, folks.
We're big DeHaan fans, and think he's a great choice here. He joins the returning Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, along with Jamie Foxx as Electro for the film that will shoot next year and hit theaters on May 2, 2014. [ComingSoon]
