What’s David Leitch‘s follow-up to “The Fall Guy“? THR has the scoop there, and, unsurprisingly, it’s a crime action thriller not unlike previous movies like “Bullet Train” and “Deadpool 2.”

The director teams up with Amazon MGM Studios and Imagine Entertainment for the project, a heist movie about a group of bank robbers who use social media to document their heists and play a cat-and-mouse game with the authorities. Mark Bianculli pens the script, one that he’s had in development with Imagine for nearly a decade. Leitch also produces via his 87North banner with his wife and producing partner Kelly McCormick. Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum also produce through Imagine.
Leitch is coming off of “The Fall Guy,” which underperformed at the box office relative to 2022’s “Bullet Train,” so he’s hoping for a hit here. The new project is his first one with Amazon MGM. And the heist film continues Imagine’s relationship with Amazon MGM, who collaborated already on two movies recently: last year’s doc “Frida” about Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, and Luca Guadagnino‘s upcoming academic drama “After The Hunt,” in theaters October 10.
As for Bianculli, most of his credits are in TV, including co-creator and executive producer on NBC‘s “Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt For The Bone Collector” and a writing credit on Prime Video‘s “Hunters“. Other recent TV credits include the Fox medical drama “Doc.” On the film side, Bianculli recently penned the upcoming “Cliffhanger” reboot that stars Pierce Bronsnan and Lily James. Stay tuned for when that film bows.
So who will Leitch get to star in his latest actioner? With Amazon MGM backing, it shouldn’t be too hard for him to find an A-lister in the same vein as Brad Pitt or Ryan Gosling for a male lead, but maybe this one’s more of an ensemble pic á la the “Ocean’s” movies. Still plenty of big names in a film like that, though, right?
