'Don't Let Go' Trailer: David Oyelowo Stars In Blumhouse Thriller About A Man Getting A Call From His Recently-Murdered Niece

Time travel is such a classic, and overused, film trope. At this point, it’s hard to find a project that is able to use the idea of time manipulation in a truly unique way. However, it seems as if the upcoming Blumhouse film, “Don’t Let Go,” has found a way to put a fun spin on the idea of time travel, as its hero attempts to save the life of a little girl.

As seen in the new trailer for the film, “Don’t Let Go” tells the story of a police detective that is unable to save the life of his young niece, as she is brutally murdered. However, two weeks later he receives a call from his niece, who is alive but living two weeks in the past. Through only the use of the cell phone, the detective and his niece have to attempt to find the murderer before he finishes his plan.

We saw the film, previously titled “Relive,” during the film’s run at this year’s Sundance. Unfortunately, we weren’t too impressed with the film at that time, calling it “a genuinely depressing experience — a movie that seems to promise, at the very least, an entertaining ‘Twilight Zone’ riff, and instead collapses into a pile of cop show and action movie clichés.”

The film stars David Oyelowo, Storm Reid, Mykelti Williamson, Brian Tyree Henry, Shinelle Azoroh, Byron Mann, April Grace, and Alfred Molina. “Don’t Let Go” is written and directed by Jacob Estes, who is probably best known for his last feature film, “The Details,” but also recently was the writer on the horror reboot ‘Rings.’

“Don’t Let Go” arrives in theaters, courtesy of Blumhouse Tilt, on August 30.

Here’s the synopsis:

In Don’t Let Go, detective Jack Radcliff (Oyelowo) gets a shocking phone call from his recently-murdered niece Ashley (Reid). Working together across time, they race to solve her murder before it can happen.
