'Dream Scenario': Nicolas Cage Teaming Up With Ari Aster For A New A24 Comedy

Nicolas Cage is a national treasure. There are just no two ways about it. He’s an A-lister who is willing to take chances on films, whether it’s because he wants a paycheck or because he just has some strange connection to the story. He’ll do a film where he’s fighting animatronics and he has zero lines (“Willy’s Wonderland”) and then follow it up with an uber-meta film about his own fame (“Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent”). Hell, he’s working on a film where he plays Dracula. The point is that he takes chances and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. You know who else takes chances? Ari Aster, the filmmaker behind “Hereditary” and “Midsommar.” So, what happens when they join forces? You should be excited to find out.

Thankfully, according to A24, we’re about to find out what happens when Nicolas Cage and Ari Aster team up for a new film, titled “Dream Scenario.” Not much is known about the film, but it’s reportedly a comedy, with Cage starring, Aster producing, and Kristoffer Borgli writing and directing.

Honestly, after ‘Unbearable Weight’ and other recent Cage films like “Mandy,” “Willy’s Wonderland,” and “Color Out of Space,” there’s no denying that the actor is firing on all cylinders right now. And even without knowing anything about the plot, knowing the people involved in “Dream Scenario” makes it easily one of our most anticipated films over the next few years.

Interestingly, in April, Cage mentioned a number of filmmakers he would be excited to work with and Aster’s name was near the top of that list, joining the likes of Christopher Nolan, Robert Eggers, and Spike Lee. So, after this, we hope those other three have Cage’s number on speed dial because we need this to happen.

As mentioned, Cage’s next feature is the action-comedy, “Renfield,” where he plays Dracula opposite Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina, and Ben Schwartz. That’s got all the makings of being a blast. It’s still far too early to know when “Dream Scenario” might be released, but let the excitement begin.
