Nicolas Cage Directors Wishlist Includes Working With Christopher Nolan, Spike Lee & More

Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage (“Leaving Las Vegas“) is having an overdue career resurgence thanks to recent films such as the psychedelic revenge picture “Mandy” and the performance-focused “Pig.” The actor has previously revealed that he’s out of debt and ready to make a big Hollywood return.

Cage’s hopes for the future were on full display during a recent Reddit AMA as the actor, who doesn’t have an online presence or social media accounts, answered various fan questions. During that rare interaction with fans, Cage mentioned an impressive group of directors he’d “love to work with.”

“I would love to work with Christopher Nolan,” Cage wrote on Reddit. “I would love to work with Ari Aster. I would love to work with Robert Eggers. Spike Lee, too.”

It’s certainly nice to hear where Cage would like to see himself in the future and the filmmakers he’s keen on working with. He remained humble when answering another fan question.

When asked about which film quotes he hated to hear in public from strangers, Cage’s response was:

“I don’t have a problem with any of the quotes, I’m glad they remember the movie.”

Another interesting bit mentioned by Cage is that his “dream role” would be playing Captain Nemo from Jules Verne‘s “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.”

“I would like to play Jules Verne’s Captain Nemo because of the character’s love of the ocean I share that with him,” Cage said.

We’ll certainly be interested to see what other projects open up for the actor. Cage is already playing the latest incarnation of Dracula in Universal’s horror-comedy “Renfield” and has mused about taking a small role in Francis Ford Coppola‘s big-budgeted film “Megalopolis.”

His latest film, “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” will be released on April 22, going head-to-head with Eggers’ Viking epic “The Northman.”
