First Trailer For Netflix's 'The Defenders' Unites Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage & Iron Fist [Watch]

As big fans of dimly-lit fights in corridors, episode upon episode of plot filler, joylessness and underusing Rosario Dawson, we’ve obviously been SUPER EXCITED for “The Defenders,” the fifth of the Netflix Marvel shows ostensibly set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (i.e. someone occasionally mentions The Avengers in passing). It’s the show that the previous ones have been building towards, uniting the heroes of “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist” for the first time.

Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and some kind of Justin Timberlake impersonator will be battling against Sigourney Weaver as a mysterious villain who, taking a wild guess, is probably some kind of corporate overlord or crime boss, and you can see the first full trailer for the show. Although the trailer promises a fight in a brightly-lit corridor this time, this otherwise looks to be sticking to the formula, which has had swiftly diminishing returns since the pretty good first seasons of “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones.” At least it’s only 8 episodes, so it won’t be quite as wildly overextended as the previous shows.

Elodie Yung, Rosario Dawson, Eka Darville, Simone Missick, Deborah-Ann Woll, Scott Glenn, Rachael Taylor, Jessica Henwick and Carrie-Anne Moss will all be reprising their roles too, and the show debuts on August 18th. Watch the trailer below.
