Glenn Close Wants To Return As Cruella De Vil In A Sequel That Finds The Villain In The Sewers

With Emma Stone having all the fun as Cruella de Vil in the upcoming Disney film, “Cruella,” it appears that Glenn Close is ready to return as the evil dog-skinning villain in a future film.

Of course, it’s been more than two decades since Close appeared as Cruella de Vil in the live-action film, “102 Dalmations.” However, with the franchise returning in this month’s Emma Stone-led prequel, “Cruella,” Close has an idea she’d like to see turn into a feature where she returns as the villain. Speaking to Variety, she teased what she’d like to see.

“I have a great story to make another ‘Cruella’ with my Cruella,” Close said. “Cruella comes to New York and disappears down the sewers.”

You have to imagine that if “Cruella” does really well in theaters and on Disney+ later this month, the studio would be keen on making a sequel to that film. However, you would also have to assume they’d want Emma Stone to return as the title character. That said, why not “Godfather Part II” the franchise and have a sequel that focuses on multiple timelines and features both Stone and Close playing different versions of Cruella de Vil? Who wouldn’t want to watch that?

Though Close is an iconic actress with 8 Oscar nominations, she’s never been one to turn down a franchise film. In addition to her role in the aforementioned live-action “101 Dalmations” films, she also had a fairly significant role in the Disney-released Marvel Studios film, “Guardians of the Galaxy.” All that to say, she’s probably not joking about the idea to return to the world of Cruella.

In the meantime, Emma Stone’s “Cruella” debuts on Disney+ and in theaters on May 28.
