'Gotti' Trailer: Cannes Late Addition Sees John Travolta Play The Infamous Crime Boss

Yesterday, we talked about how the long-delayed crime film “Gotti,” starring John Travolta would finally see its premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. While the film was supposed to be released last December, it never came to be, due to the original distributor, Lionsgate, selling the film back to the producers. Now, with the Cannes premiere just ahead and a June release date, we finally have the trailer for the film.

You can see from the footage that “Gotti” will live and die on the back of John Travolta’s performance. He’s in just about every frame of the footage, and for good reason, since he’s the biggest star and lead of the film. So, if Travolta turns in a great performance as the crime boss, then “Gotti” could be a film that you want to keep an eye on. Judging by the footage seen in the trailer, the film definitely looks like a crime film that’s trying its best to capture the magic of Scorsese.

“Gotti” comes from director Kevin Connolly, who is best known for starring in the HBO show “Entourage.” This is the third feature film from Connolly, and by far, his biggest to date. The cast features Travolta, joined by Stacey Keach, Kelly Preston (Travolta’s real-life wife), Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Spencer Lofranco. “Gotti” is also written by Lem Dobbs, a frequent collaborator with Steven Soderbergh.

“Gotti” is scheduled to hit theaters June 15.

Here’s the synopsis:

John Gotti rises to the top of the New York underworld to become the boss of the Gambino crime family. His life takes a tumultuous turn as he faces tragedy, multiple trials and a prison sentence.
