TELEVISION

1. “Shogun”
FX’s captivating epic is, fittingly, an all-time example of the glory of the Peak TV era. It doesn’t hurt that Anna Sawai delivers one of the finest performances in any medium this year.

2. “Baby Reindeer”
Did Richard Gadd write and star in one of the greatest television debuts ever? Can you believe Netflix had no idea how good this really was before it dropped?

3. “Somebody Somewhere”
Somehow, in their final season, and after already winning a Peabody, Bridget Everett, Jeff Hiller, and creators Paul Thureen and Hannah Bos deliver their most profound work yet.

4. “Hacks”
One of the best season finale twists this century.

5. “One Day”

Is it “Succession” lite? Maybe, but it was so good that we binged the third season in a day.

9. “English Teacher”
We weren’t sure Brian Jordan Alvarez could bring his comedic voice to a broader audience. Boy, were we wrong.

10. “X-Men ’97”
Can an animated series make you tear up? Yep, yes, it can.
