According to Deadline, Harry Styles has been cast to replace Shia LaBeouf in Wilde’s thriller, “Don’t Worry, Darling.” LaBeouf is leaving the project due to a scheduling conflict. Details about the plot are unknown, but the film is said to take place in an isolated, utopian community in the 1950s California desert. Katie Silberman, who scripted Wilde’s debut, “Booksmart,” is returning to work with the filmmaker on her latest feature, which is inspired by a spec script by Shane and Carey Van Dyke.

Styles is probably best known for his singing career, first as a member of One Direction and then as a solo act. He has made the leap into film roles, debuting his talents in the Christopher Nolan feature, “Dunkirk.” “Don’t Worry, Darling” marks the singer-turned-actor’s first role in a feature since that Nolan film. He was reportedly in the running for Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” remake but wasn’t eventually cast.

Wilde is expected to begin production on “Don’t Worry, Darling” sometime in the fall, with a 2021 release date being assumed.
