‘Heart Of The Beast’ Trailer: Brad Pitt & His Combat Dog Fight For Survival In David Ayer’s Alaskan Thriller

Pitt reunites with his “Fury” director for an adventure thriller centered on the unbreakable bond between a soldier and his four-legged partner.

Survival movies tend to strip their characters down to instinct: find shelter, secure food, keep moving, and don’t freeze to death. But the latest trailer for “Heart Of The Beast” suggests that David Ayer’s Alaskan adventure thriller has an emotional engine beyond the usual man-versus-nature mechanics. Brad Pitt may be the marquee attraction, but his character’s survival depends equally on the combat dog stranded beside him.

Pitt stars as James Belmont, a Special Forces officer whose plane crashes deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Injured and cut off from civilization, James must rely on Odin, his military-trained German Shepherd, as the pair battle brutal weather, unforgiving terrain, and the dangers lurking beyond their makeshift shelter.

The new trailer leans heavily into that bond, presenting James and Odin as two veterans who understand each other’s damage and must function as a single survival unit. The film reunites Pitt and Ayer more than a decade after their WWII tank drama “Fury,” although this is a far more intimate showcase for the actor—and his four-legged co-star.

Odin is played by a German Shepherd named Uber, whom Pitt recently described as “number one on the call sheet” and “the star of the film.” Speaking about their work together, Pitt said the dog’s spontaneity shaped their scenes.

“Following Uber’s lead and improv-ing is really how we do scenes,” Pitt told People. “It’s really beautiful in the film how they work together and depend on each other.”

Pitt added that Uber was “the most important piece to this story” and said making the film became “a surprisingly special experience.”

Written by Cameron Alexander, “Heart Of The Beast” also stars J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe. Pitt, Ayer, Olivia Hamilton, and Marty Bowen produce, while Damien Chazelle is among the executive producers.

Paramount Pictures releases “Heart Of The Beast” exclusively in theaters on September 25, 2026. Watch the new trailer below.
