Is Daniel Radcliffe Part Of The "Secret" Cast Being Sought For 'Jay And Seth Vs. The Apocalypse'?

Yes, the source is a totally random site we’ve never heard of with the generic name Entertainment Biz! (via STYD) but the news is really too intriguing to ignore. ‘Harry Potter’ star Daniel Radcliffe is apparently “keen to get involved” in the long gestating “Jay And Seth Vs. The Apocalypse” with Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel and has been asked to audition for the film.

At Comic-Con we had the chance to talk to writer Evan Goldberg, who was doing the round for the forthcoming “The Green Hornet,” and though he didn’t give away too much he did say the film was on the table and actively being developed now. “We’re right in it, ” he said. And when prompted about any cameos or additional cast members we might expect he added, “I’m not telling you my secret. But needless to say I could not be more excited about our secret people who will be in the film. We’re going full speed on that, and I couldn’t be more excited to make that movie.”

Interesting. Radcliffe seems like the kind of perfect left-field choice that the team of Rogen/Baruchel/Goldberg would make and it will be interesting to see what other names bubble to the surface. Radcliffe is currently committed to shooting Hammer Film’s ghost story “The Woman In Black” and has lined up a Broadway run in the musical “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” next year. But ‘Jay And Seth’ probably wouldn’t go in front of cameras until 2011 at the earliest with Baruchel gearing up “Goon” for hopefully a fall 2010 shoot. As for Rogen, his calendar for the rest of the year is clear though he’s recently been linked to the musical “Rock Of Ages” and the road trip comedy “My Mother’s Curse” with Barbra Streisand.

Again, take this with a grain of salt. Seems odd they would be doing auditions for a film that wouldn’t conceivably be shooting until next year, but perhaps development is a lot further along than we expected? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this one plays out.
