#ReleaseTheSynderCut: Damon Lindelof Teases That He's Seen It As 'Justice League' Actors Gal Gadot & Ben Affleck Show Their Support

For two years, we’ve been tracking the progress of the mythical “Snyder Cut” of the Warner Bros. superhero film “Justice League.” The critical and box office disappointment has never sat right with many fans, who just want the studio to release the Zack Snyder-approved version that wasn’t tainted by Joss Whedon or the executives. And thanks to a trio of big names, this weekend brought a groundswell of support that the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut folks haven’t seen in a long time.

Celebrating the two year anniversary of the film’s release, actors Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot went to social media to show their support for the cut of the film that may or may not exist and is being kept under wraps by the people at WB.

Gadot didn’t have any special message about the film, other than to share a behind-the-scenes photo from the Snyder version of the film, with the #ReleaseTheSynderCut caption. The same can be said about “Justice League” actor Ben Affleck, who also tweeted the hashtag in support of the release.

Apparently, this was enough for Zack Snyder to leave the Vero social media platform and venture over to Twitter. The director retweeted Gadot and said, “This ancient Amazonian can’t be wrong. #releasethesnydercut.”

He also noticed Affleck’s support and retweeted. He added, “Neither can Batman. #releasethesnydercut.”

But it wasn’t only Snyder and his actors who got into the fun this weekend. Writer-producer Damon Lindelof, who we don’t believe had any connection to the WB film, decided to not only show his support for the petition to release a new version of the film but also hinted that there’s the chance that he’s actually seen the mythical Snyder Cut.

Lindelof wrote on Instagram, “I’m not saying I’ve seen it, but if I HAD, I would unequivocally support the powers that be to #releasethesnydercut.”

If you sit still and be quiet for five seconds, you can hear the distant cheers of the Snyder Cut faithful reacting to this avalanche of support from heavy hitters that came over the last few days. Before Gadot, Affleck, and Lindelof, the main cheerleaders for the new version of “Justice League” were Snyder himself, “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa, and random folks who may or may not have first-hand knowledge of the cut. Needless to say, Affleck, Gadot, and Lindelof lend a huge amount of credibility to the hashtag.

Does this mean a Synder Cut is coming? Probably not. But more than two years after the film’s release, the special version of “Justice League” is still being teased and you could argue that the folks begging WB for a new release of the film are as close as they’ve ever been right now. But still, logistically, it really doesn’t make sense, especially given that so much time has passed and the studio has clearly moved on.

But hey, those Snyder Cut believers are feeling pretty good right about now.
