Kevin Hart & Jason Statham To Team Up For Action-Comedy 'The Man From Toronto'

Ready for the most shocking news of the day? Jason Statham is starring as a hard-nosed, tough guy in an upcoming film. Want another surprise? Kevin Hart is going to star opposite a tough guy as the comedic sidekick in an action-comedy. According to Deadline, these men are set to join forces for the upcoming film “The Man from Toronto,” and yes, it does actually feel like studios are just reshuffling actors and premises, hoping that audiences won’t care.

The report claims that Statham and Hart will co-star in the action-comedy “The Man from Toronto,” which is based on a script by Robbie Fox (the man behind the rom-com “Playing for Keeps”) and will be directed by Patrick Hughes. The helmer is probably best known for his films “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” and “Expendables 3.” Your mileage may vary on whether or not those credits are a positive thing or not.

Here’s the synopsis:

What happens when the world’s deadliest assassin, known as ‘The Man from Toronto’, and Teddy, New York’s biggest screw-up, are mistaken for each other in a rented Airbnb? The Man from Toronto and Teddy are forced to team up and save the day, but the real question is, will they survive each other?

Statham and Hart are no strangers to action comedies. Hell, they both showed up in the recent “Hobbs & Shaw,” which broke the action-comedy mold just a bit by having two hard-nosed tough guys team up with the comedic sidekicks sidelined for the bulk of the film. Other than that film, Statham has made a cottage industry out of being the badass action star with a mild sense of humor in films like “The Meg” and “Spy.” Hart, on the other hand, has pretty much perfected the comedic sidekick role with films such as “Ride Along,” “Jumanji,” and “Central Intelligence.”
