'Knife + Heart' Trailer: Vanessa Paradis Stars In '70s-Set French Thriller From Filmmaker Yann Gonzalez

To understand if “Knife + Heart” is a film for you, all you need to hear is the basic premise. From there, it’ll be readily apparent if you’re ready to experience co-writer and director Yann Gonzalez’s upcoming French thriller.

As seen in the new US trailer for the film, “Knife + Heart” tells the story of a queer porn producer in the late-70s that becomes frightened when her actors are being murdered by a masked killer. And yes, it’s as campy and transgressive as you’d hope. The film stars Vanessa Paradis as the lead, and judging by the visuals in the trailer, “Knife + Heart” looks to be ripping a page directly out of that era, with neon and enough sleaze (in the best possible way) that can be felt oozing from the footage.

Making matters even more interesting is the fact that the film has a full score from musical group M83, who has a unique connection to this film. Director Gonzalez is a former member of the electronic musical group, which is led by his brother Anthony. The brothers previously collaborated on the film “You and the Night,” which once again featured M83 music.

Long story short, “Knife + Heart” isn’t a film for everyone. However, if you read the above and think it sounds like a fun, exciting time at the cinema, then check out the trailer below and get ready to immerse yourself into the world of Yann Gonzalez’s latest work.

“Knife + Heart” hits select theaters on March 15.
