Can one determined canine reunite his brokenhearted owners? “Merv” sees a spirited dog become listless after his pet parents, Anna and Russ, split up. A surprising co-parenting agreement between the duo hopes to breathe new life into their beloved furry friend. Soon after, Russ attempts to help Merv with a Florida getaway, but their plans change after Anna unexpectedly arrives. Jessica Swale directs this upcoming romantic comedy from a screenplay by Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart.

The project sees two popular actors star as Merv’s owners. Zooey Deschanel and Charlie Cox are already well-known to audiences thanks to their memorable roles. Deschanel led the hit comedy series “New Girl” during its seven-season run. Cox won over Marvel fans with his portrayal of Matt Murduck, aka Daredevil. It’s a role he is currently reprising for the Disney+ series “Daredevil: Born Again.” He also recently found success in the gaming world, voicing Gustave in “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.” Chris Redd and Patricia Heaton round out the cast of “Merv.”

When their beloved dog Merv loses his spark after their split, Anna (Zooey Deschanel) and Russ (Charlie Cox) are forced into the world’s most awkward co-parenting arrangement. Hoping to shake Merv out of his funk, Russ takes him to Florida for a much-needed getaway—only for Anna to show up unexpectedly. As Merv slowly gets his groove back, it turns out fixing their dog’s broken heart may lead to a few sparks of their own.
