Michael B. Jordan Opens Up About Those Superman Rumors: "Anything I Do Dive Into Has To Be Done The Right Way"

Michael B. Jordan is one of the most in-demand actors working today. Trying to keep track of what roles he has on his schedule is pretty difficult, as the actor has been signing on to act (and produce) a ton of films and TV shows. But recently, headlines were made when it was reported that Jordan had met with Warner Bros. about a certain superhero that flies around Metropolis and saves the world from the likes of Lex Luthor. Well, according to the actor, rumors are rumors, but Jordan does explain what it would take for him to take on a superhero role.

Jordan spoke to MTV News and the idea of him being the next Superman was brought up. Obviously, the actor isn’t about to spill the beans (if there are any to spill, that is), so he gave the next best answer — we’ll see.

“I’ve been rumored to play Morpheus to Superman, to ‘Duck Tales’ reboot, to ‘Power Rangers,’ and everything in between, so it’s like, I’m kinda used to the rumors I’m playing something,” said Jordan. “But anything that I do dive into has to be done the right way. It has to be full of authenticity. I’m a fan of comic books, you know? I understand, you know, the fans being upset at, ‘Oh no, why are they doing this and why are they changing that?’”

He continued, “I would feel the same way about certain things. So just know, if I ever were to dabble in anything, it would be authentic and something that I feel like people would really support.”

After his star-making performances in the two “Creed” films, as well as “Black Panther,” it’s clear that Michael B. Jordan is very capable of bringing something special to a franchise. And it’s not much of a leap to consider him as a great Superman. But obviously, there’s the whole “Clark Kent is white!” thing that will likely be the source of controversy if the actor ever signs on to be the hero. Ugh.

If the rumors are true and Jordan is the man who takes over the role from Henry Cavill (who swears he has more Superman on deck), it would be hard for anyone to honestly be upset over that move. Jordan is great and would probably be one hell of a Superman.

The actor will next appear in the film “Just Mercy,” which hit theaters yesterday.
