Got a Tip?

Noomi Rapace Confirmed For ‘Animal Rescue’ With Tom Hardy

nullTom Hardy + Noomi Rapace? Boom, done. When the idea was first floated a month ago, when Rapace was offered a co-starring role, we were already enthuiastic on the idea, but now the actress has gone ahead and accepted a role in "Animal Rescue," in what should be a pretty good showcase for both talents.

Set to be directed by "Bullhead" helmer Michael Roskam (oh yeah, the third reason we're down for this), the film is based on a short story by Dennis Lehane ("Mystic River," "Gone Baby Gone") about a lonely New York bartender, caught in the midst of a bad heist and a killing, who rescues a puppy from a garbage can and becomes the target of the dog's abusive and mentally unstable former owner. Rapace will play Nadia, who has a scar across her neck, who crosses paths with bartender, who finds the puppy outside her home. So does this mean these two will be squaring off? If so, fuck yes.

In case you forgot, the pair were also circling the Cold War drama "Child 44" that has "Safe House" helmer Daniel Espinosa slated to direct, but it seems this one won out. And it's moving fast. Production will begin this spring in New York City and hopefully by this time next year, we'll be trying to figure out which festival it'll be playing at first. [Variety]
