'Pariah' Director Dee Rees To Helm Indie Love Story 'This Man, This Woman'

nullDirector Dee Rees hasn't been in any particular hurry to follow up the acclaimed and excellent "Pariah," but she's not without options. Earlier this year it was reported she was writing a new film entitled "Large Print," about a recently divorced, mid-50s insurance adjuster, she's got a thriller called "Bolo" she's developing with Focus Features and she's working on a project at HBO with Viola Davis. Well, now her slate is beginning to get a little more crowded.

Variety reports that Rees has been tapped to helm the indie love story "This Man, This Woman." Penned by Frederic Raphael ("Eyes Wide Shut," "Two For The Road," "Far From The Madding Crowd") the film will center on a divorced couple, who are struck by tragedy and find themselves seated together on an airplane. They use the opportunity to figure out what went wrong in their relationship, and fall back in love. As she showed in "Pariah," Rees knows the pangs of love and loss so this seems like a good fit.

The project is a bit of a way off though, as Rees and producer Mike Lobell are first going to assemble a cast and then get financing. So no word if this will be next or if one of her other projects will jump the queue. But she's a solid talent either way, and we just hope it isn't too long before we see her next effort, whatever it is.
