There’s a method to keeping yourself employed in most creative industries where you alternate between doing something you’re passionate about with something a bit more… commercial. A “one for them, one for me” mindset. David Lowery seems to be one of those types of artists. So, after we got the “one for me” art house fantasy film, “The Green Knight,” we’re not on the “one for them” side of things with “Peter Pan & Wendy.”
As seen in the trailer for “Peter Pan & Wendy,” David Lowery has once again teamed with Disney to bring one of the studio’s animated classics to live-action. The filmmaker has now taken the tale of Peter Pan and Wendy Darling about a group of kids scared of growing up, while also fighting a creepy pirate, and brought it to live-action. Obviously, this isn’t the first time the Peter Pan story has been adapted for live-action. Hell, we’re only several years removed from Joe Wright’s ill-advised “Pan.” But Lowery has already proven himself adept at this sort of adaptation, as he previously helmed “Pete’s Dragon,” so there’s a bit of confidence that he can do it again with “Peter Pan & Wendy.”
The film stars Jude Law, Alexander Molony, Ever Anderson, Yara Shahidi, Alyssa Wapanatâhk, Joshua Pickering, Jacobi Jupe, Molly Parker, Alan Tudyk, and Jim Gaffigan. As mentioned, the film is directed by Lowery, who previously worked with Disney on “Pete’s Dragon.” In addition, he’s also directed “A Ghost Story,” “The Old Man & The Gun,” and “The Green Knight.” See? One for them, one for me.
