Ray Liotta Joins Andrew Dominik's 'Cogan's Trade'

Mark Ruffalo Not Cast In The Film Despite Reports

The cast for Andrew Dominik‘s “Cogan’s Trade” keeps getting better and better; at this point, we just want to fast-forward to next year so we can see this thing.

THR reports that Ray Liotta has now joined the cast that already includes Brad Pitt, James Gandolfini, Sam Rockwell, Vincent Curatola, Richard Jenkins and Bella Heathcote. However, reps for Mark Ruffalo, whose name keeps cropping up in reports about the film, have told us he has not been cast in the film. Javier Bardem, long ago rumored to be involved, is also mentioned in the trade report about the casting, but he has yet to be confirmed as well. Casey Affleck is also yet to be officially announced, but he has been long linked to the project and we’d wager he’s on board.

The film is an adaptation of the pulp crime novel by George V. Higgins (the author of “The Friends Of Eddie Coyle”) and follows mob enforcer Jackie Cogan (Pitt) trying to track down the thieves who ripped off a high-stakes card game. That very card game will be run by Liotta’s character, a hustler named Mark “Markie” Trattman.

Production on the film begins later this month and it will be released in early 2012 by The Weinstein Company.
