According to the streaming service, Peacock has ordered a 10-episode season of “Poker Face,” a new mystery series from creator-writer-director Rian Johnson. And leading the cast is none other than Natasha Lyonne. Exactly plot details are unknown, but Johnson describes the series as a “case-of-the-week” mystery series that is reminiscent of older series.

“Rian Johnson’s distinct sensibility and talent for telling edge-of-your-seat mysteries is a massive gift for Peacock, and we can’t wait for audiences to delve into each case,” said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “Paired with the acting genius of Natasha Lyonne, this series will be entertaining and addictive.”

Johnson added, “I’m very excited to dig into the type of fun, character driven, case-of-the-week mystery goodness I grew up watching. It’s my happy place. Having Natasha as a partner in crime is a dream, and we’ve found the perfect home at Peacock.”

Lyonne has been working in film and TV for decades already. However, most recently, she’s found a lot of success in TV, with a supporting role in the critically-acclaimed Netflix show, “Orange is the New Black,” and a lead role in the also acclaimed Netflix series, “Russian Doll.” So, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise that she’s sticking with TV for a brand-new show.

As mentioned, Johnson serves as the creator, writer, and director for the series. In addition to the aforementioned, “Knives Out,” Johnson is probably best known for his films, “Brick,” “Looper,” and some indie film, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” or something. You probably haven’t seen it, and it definitely doesn’t get mentioned on social media at all.

There’s no expected release date for “Poker Face,” but this is the exact type of show that will help bring Peacock into the discussion for prominent streaming platforms.
