Riley Keough Replaces Olivia Thirlby In Bradley Rust Gray's Lesbian-Werewolf-Romance Film 'Jack & Diane'

Yet another lineup change in Bradley Rust Gray’s lesbian werewolf romance tale “Jack & Diane” with model, actress and Elvis Presley-granddaughter Riley Keough now replacing Olivia Thirlby as one of the titular leads.

Keough made her feature debut just last year in Floria Sigismundi’s “The Runaways,” and must have impressed as she has followed that up with a lead role in “The Good Doctor” alongside Orlando Bloom. And now this — though she’s definitely a class below the revolving door of young female talent that have come and gone including Ellen Page, Alison Pill and Thirlby.

That said, the thespian joins fellow music royalty offspring Juno Temple, daughter of Julien, in the story of two lesbian teenagers in a whirlwind romance who face the upcoming prospect of one’s imminent departure and potential lycanthropic transformation. Keough will be playing Jack who is described by helmer Rust as “a tough skinned girl who’s hiding a fragile heart” while Temple’s Diane is more “quiet and innocent with an inner raging passion.”

Cara Seymour, Dane DeHaan and Michael Chernus also round out the cast for the film set to shoot this June in New York City in what will feature “dreamlike and often violent imagery,” “unusual transformations” and a “unique and visceral point-of-view.” It’s an interesting project and we think Juno Temple is an IT girl to watch, but with all the casting changes to far it doesn’t seem like the project was a priority to anyone. Damaged goods? We’ll have to wait and see, but Gray Rust is a talented filmmaker.
