As seen in the trailer, “Selena: The Series” tells the story of unlikely Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla, as she is thrust into the spotlight by her parents, along with her sister and brother as members of her backing band. Of course, it wasn’t always easy for Selena, and the first part of a two-part release by Netflix showcases just what it took for the young girl to grow into a music icon. And clearly, since this is only part one, the second half of the limited series is going to tackle the tragic ending to the story.

“Selena: The Series” stars Christian Serratos as the title character alongside Gabriel Chavarria, Ricardo Chavira, Noemí Gonzalez, and Seidy López. The show comes from creator Moises Zamora, who worked with Don Todd (“This is Us”) to develop the project. Jaime Dávila, Rico Martinez, Hiromi Kamata, Suzette Quintanilla, Simran A. Singh and Zamora are all aboard as executive producers on the new series.
