Distributor To Cut Scenes From 'Show Dogs' After Concerns Over Inadvertent Sexual Abuse Message

Honestly, we’ve tried our best to avoid talking about Will Arnett’s latest film, “Show Dogs.” The movie looks god awful and the premise is stupidly bonkers. Overall, it just seems like the type of movie we can somehow erase from our memories and pretend it never existed. Well, regardless of our thoughts on the film, families paid their hard-earned money this past weekend on “Show Dogs,” and some left horrified – and surprisingly not by the quality of the film.

Various mommy bloggers and parents groups released statements over the weekend condemning the movie for allegedly putting across a message that sexual abuse is okay. Seriously, we’re not making this up.

In the film (**Spoiler Alert for a shitty talking dogs movie**), the main dog, voiced by rapper Ludacris, is going undercover in the world of dog shows. During an event, he has his genitals inspected by a judge. Over the course of the inspection, he begins to become more comfortable with it, and not confused or upset over the interaction. And by the end, he’s perfectly okay with what happened.

As you might imagine, parents groups are saying this pushes forward the idea that sexual abuse can become comfortable and acceptable. And you really don’t want to take your kids to a family film that might inadvertently give them that message. So, Global Road (distributors of “Show Dogs”) have released a statement to Deadline, with a solution to the problem:

“Responding to concerns raised by moviegoers and some specific organizations, Global Road Entertainment has decided to remove two scenes from the film Show Dogs that some have deemed not appropriate for children. The company takes these matters very seriously and remains committed to providing quality entertainment for the intended audiences based on the film’s rating. We apologize to anybody who feels the original version of Show Dogs sent an inappropriate message. The revised version of the film will be available for viewing nationwide starting this weekend.”

So, there you have it. The questionable scenes are being removed and a new version of the film will hit theaters this weekend. We still don’t recommend you pay money to see it.
