'X-Men' Actress Sophie Turner Describes Her Time Working With Bryan Singer As "Unpleasant"

Whenever there’s a controversy surrounding a famous person, whatever it might be, what follows is normally a flood of negative information from other sources about the celebrity. When the #MeToo movement really started going over a year ago, victims would come forward with more and more confidence after hearing other stories that fellow people went through. But it’s not just the victims that come forward, and as we see in the case of filmmaker Bryan Singer, his colleagues are willing to speak out, as well.

As you are well aware of by now, filmmaker Bryan Singer has been the subject of numerous claims of sexual assault, with several allegations coming from folks who were underage at the time of the incident. Singer has vehemently denied everything, but with the sheer number of stories coming out about the filmmaker, it’s becoming more commonplace to find actors and other folks speaking out, not just about his allegations, but also his demeanor on set. And needless to say, no one is out there talking about how great Singer is.

Most recently, actress Sophie Turner has spoken up about her time working with the disgraced director. Turner and Singer worked together on “X-Men: Apocalypse,” which saw the young actress take the role of Jean Grey. The director has a long history with the ‘X-Men’ franchise, dating back to the first film in the series back in 2000. But according to Turner, her time with the director didn’t leave a great impression.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Turner kept things short and simple, saying, “Our time together was, like Rami [Malek] said, unpleasant.”

The actress, obviously, is referencing a recent comment Malek said about working with Singer. Malek and the director collaborated on the recent box office beast, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which earned the actor his first Oscar. In an interview, Malek described his time with Singer, saying, “In my situation with Bryan, it was not pleasant, not at all. And that’s about what I can say about it at this point.”

Singer was recently attached to the remake of “Red Sonja,” but it’s been reported that the producers behind the film had to dismiss him after the allegations prevented them from securing distribution.

Turner reprises her role as Jean Grey in the upcoming ‘X-Men’ film, “Dark Phoenix.”
