'The Stranger' Trailer: Dane DeHaan Is A Murderous Uber Passenger In Quibi's New Thriller

You would have to assume that the worst part of being a rideshare driver is the fact that you never know who you are picking up. Hopefully, it’s someone that is pleasant, doesn’t smell bad, and tips big. But for the young driver in the new Quibi series, “The Stranger,” she’s pretty shocked and terrified to find out that her passenger may very well be a murderer.

As seen in the trailer for “The Passenger,” the series begins with a woman picking up a passenger at a swanky mansion in the Hollywood Hills. Soon, she finds out that the man she picked up is a self-proclaimed sociopath and murderer. Obviously, this isn’t the news she was hoping to hear, and thus begins the psychotic cat and mouse game between passenger and unsuspecting driver.

The new thriller series stars Maika Monroe, Dane DeHaan, and Avan Jogia. “The Stranger” comes from writer-director Veena Sud. Sud is probably best known for creating and producing AMC’s crime series, “The Killing.” She also recently directed films such as “The Lie” and “The Salton Sea.”

Hopefully, by now, you understand that Quibi is the new streaming service that splits series into “quick bites” of about 10 minutes, releasing new episodes on a frequent basis. The streaming service is intended to be viewed on your smartphone or tablet. “The Stranger” is an interesting experiment to see if a psychological thriller can be enjoyed on a small screen in the same way that someone might enjoy it in theaters or, obviously, on their home TV.
