Sylvester Stallone Says He's Working With WB On A New 'Demolition Man' Film. For Real.

Sylvester Stallone’s acting career is pretty iconic when it comes to action stars. His run from the late-‘70s until the late-‘80s, specifically with the ‘Rocky’ and ‘Rambo’ films, is unparalleled. However, when the ‘90s came, things got a little weird for the actor. He started to take big risks and those films didn’t always pay off (looking at you “Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot,” “Oscar,” “Judge Dredd,” and others). But one of those films that shouldn’t have worked but has gone down as an action classic is “Demolition Man.”

And it appears that, like his ‘Rambo’ and ‘Rocky’ franchises, Stallone is ready to dust off “Demolition Man” and make another.

Speaking to his fans on Instagram, Stallone recently answered the question about the possibility of a new “Demolition Man” film. For those unaware, the film starred Stallone as a cop that is frozen and revived in the future when his mortal enemy (played by a gleefully campy Wesley Snipes) is also brought back to life. The film is a fun mix of action and comedy (featuring a very young Sandra Bullock and a gag about using shells for wiping your butt). And apparently, much like Stallone’s character, Sergeant John Spartan (so very action-y, right?), it’s time to defrost “Demolition Man” for a new generation.

“I think it is coming,” Stallone revealed. “We’re working on it right now with Warner Brothers and it’s looking fantastic, so that should come out. That’s going to happen.”

Unlike ‘Rocky’ and ‘Rambo,’ there isn’t a huge franchise and loyal fanbase to drive interest in a new “Demolition Man.” However, because of that, there’s also no expectations. All people would really want out of a new film is Stallone, Snipes, Bullock, and a truly weird futuristic story where Taco Bell is fine dining. So, why not bring it back? There’s really not much a studio could lose with a new “Demolition Man.”

If you haven’t seen the original film, here are some examples of what you’re missing out on:
