Take Another Look At Spike Lee's 'Red Hook Summer' With 10 New Images

nullYou've likely already been feeling the intense heat the summer is bringing already, and if you're looking for a cool place to escape in August, you might want to hit up your local arthouse where you'll still be able to feel the season's sweaty and sticky vibe, but in air conditioned comfort. Spike Lee returns with "Red Hook Summer," his first non-doc feature since 2008's "Miracle At St. Anna's," and a handful of new images are here to give you a further look at what he'll be bringing.

The indie flick, shot on a lean budget and of course, on location, features Clarke Peters ("The Wire") in the lead with a cast of mostly unknowns, with the story centering on Flick (Jules Brown), a middle-class Atlanta teenager sent to stay with his grandfather Enoch (Peters), a bishop in the housing projects of Red Hook, Brooklyn. A culture and generation clash occurs between the two characters, but Jules falls into a relationship with Chazz (Toni Lysaith), who shows him a different side the neighborhood.

The film earned strong buzz out of Sundance, where we called it a "remarkable display of a filmmaker reconnecting with his artistic voice." Variance Films will open "Red Hook Summer" in limited release on August 10th. [HeyUGuys]nullnullnullnullnullnullnullnull
