‘The Drama’ First-Look Video: New A24 Rom-Com Starring Robert Pattinson & Zendaya Arrives On April 3

The Drama” has a few things going for it.  For one, it’s written and directed by Kirstoffer Borgli, who’s coming off of his 2023 dark comedy hit “Dream Scenario.”  This earned the film’s lead, Nicolas Cage, a Golden Globe nomination.  Plus ‘Drama’ has Robert Pattinson and Zendaya. Two of the biggest movie stars in the world right now.

In the new pic, we see a happily engaged couple put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails.  The film blends psychological tension, dark humor, and identity crisis themes. The movie stars Zendaya, Pattinson, Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, Hailey Gates, and Zoë Winters. Borgliis is set as writer/director. Ari Aster, Tyler Campellone, and Lars Knudsen are producers.  Chris Stinson is the executive producer.

An official synopsis from A24:

Days before their wedding, a couple’s relationship is shaken when one partner discovers unsettling truths about the other.

Pattinson has had an excellent 2025 with “Mickey 17” and “Die My Love.”  The latter giving him an opportunity to play a “normal guy,” versus the “freaks” he’s accustomed to playing. Zendaya is following up her 2024 work in “Challengers” and “Dune: Part Two” with an enticing 2026 that includes the third season of “Euphoria,” “Dune: Part Three” (also starring Pattinson), and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”  The two will also be sharing the screen in Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated “The Odyssey,” arriving next summer.

What’s amazing is that even with an already impressive body of work, both their stars continue to rise.  It will be interesting to see the two together in ‘Drama,’ a stripped-down comedy romance that’s focused more on character than special effects.  The film is clearly a departure from the comic book adaptations and sci-fi/fantasy work that have characterized both actors’ careers up to this point.  With some clever marketing to generate buzz around the movie’s release, audiences might not be able to stay away from ‘Drama.’
