'The Gray Man': First Look Images From Netflix's $200 Million Spy Flick

The Russo Brothers gave us two of the biggest Marvel outings to date with “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame,” and Netflix is betting that the sibling duo is going to give them their own massive blockbuster with “The Gray Man.” Touting a budget of $200 million-plus, the action-focused spy movie boasts a fantastic cast that consists of Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, and British heartthrob Regé-Jean Page from “Bridgerton.”

Entertainment Weekly has posted new first-look stills (see below) from the ambitious action flick giving us looks at the cast in character. We’re anticipating a teaser trailer might be around the corner for the summer movie based on the string of novels penned by Mark Greaney.

EW also included a synopsis for “The Gray Man” which is expected to be a franchise starter:

An elite cloak-and-dagger CIA operative (Gosling) who’s so ghostlike, even his real name is unknown. When he accidentally uncovers hidden agency secrets, he finds himself tangled in an international conspiracy, as an unhinged former colleague (Evans) puts a bounty on his head.

The rest of the cast consists of Jessica Henwick (“The Matrix Resurrections,” “Iron Fist“), Wagner Moura (“Narcos“), Billy Bob Thornton (“Fargo“), Alfre Woodard (“Luke Cage“), Callan Mulvey (“Batman v Superman“), Robert Kazinsky (“Pacific Rim“), Scott Haze (“Venom“), Deobia Oparei (“Dredd“), Michael Gandolfini (“The Many Saints of Newark“), and Julia Butters (“Once Upon A Time In Hollywood“).

This won’t be the only high-profile action project for de Armas, as the Cuban actress recently played a spy alongside Daniel Craig in “No Time To Die” and was selected to lead Lionsgate‘s big “John Wick” spinoff film, “Ballerina,” which is being directed by Len Wiseman (“Live Free or Die Hard“).

If it’s a hit, the streamer might attempt to secure multiple follow-ups similar to how Netflix paid big dollars to land two “Knives Out” sequels from writer/director Rian Johnson. However, the studio has yet to make public any concrete commitments beyond this first installment and, given the costs involved, won’t make those decisions lightly.

“The Gray Man” will hit theaters on July 15 before heading to Netflix on July 22. You can check out those images below.
