Jamie Foxx And Teyonah Parris Join John Boyega In Sci-Fi Mystery 'They Cloned Tyrone'

John Boyega may be disappointed with his experience on the new “Star Wars” trilogy, but at least he seems to be moving away from the franchise to other ventures, including the Netflix sci-fi mystery “They Cloned Tyrone.” And he’s not alone, with Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris also joining the cast.

The Hollywood Reporter has the news on Foxx and Parris joining the cast, but not a lot is said about who they’re playing, though we do know that Boyega is playing the lead. The story follows “an unlikely trio who investigates a series of eerie events, alerting them to a nefarious conspiracy lurking directly beneath their hood.” Presumably, the conspiracy involves the cloning of someone naming Tyrone.

“They Cloned Tyrone” which has been described as “Friday” meets “Get Out,” will serve as the directorial debut of “Creed 2” writer Juel Taylor, who co-write the script with Tony Rottenmaier. The pair will also produce the film alongside Charles King and his Macro production banner, Stephen “Dr.” Love and Kim Roth. Poppy Hanks and Mark R. Wright are also executive producing for Macro.

The script was part of The Black List in 2019, a collection of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays, and the film was originally announced with Brian Tyree Henry as the lead, before the casting changed.

If nothing else, this is a fantastic cast for an original sci-fi idea. John Boyega is certainly no stranger to sci-fi action and comedy, as proven by his roles in both “Star Wars” and “Attack the Block.” Meanwhile, Jamie Foxx just teamed with Netflix for their own sci-fi action movie “Project Power,” and his role in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is nothing short of (accidentally) hilarious.
