The Toronto International Film Festival has unveiled its 2026 TIFF Docs and Short Cuts programs, adding 66 films from around the world to the festival’s growing lineup.

TIFF Docs features 21 titles from 20 countries, including 18 world premieres. More than two-thirds of the films are directed by women, with new work from Alex Gibney, Barbara Kopple, Sophie Fiennes, Rebeca Huntt, Maiken Baird, Lacey Schwartz Delgado, Mila Aung-Thwin, and Sine Plambech.

Huntt’s “Rapinoe,” a personal profile of American soccer star Megan Rapinoe, will open the program. Other world premieres include Baird’s “Edward Said: Between Worlds,” tracing the life of the Palestinian-American writer and scholar, and Schwartz Delgado’s “Re/Pair,” which examines the connections and tensions between Black and Jewish communities in the United States.

Gibney returns with “Musk,” which receives its North American premiere, while Kopple’s “Union Town” follows three labor battles in New York City. Kopple’s “Harlan County, U.S.A.” screened during TIFF’s inaugural edition in 1976.

Additional selections include Fiennes’ “The Pervert’s Guide to Utopias,” Barry Avrich’s “Darlene Love: I Know Where I’ve Been,” James Marcus Haney’s “Black Sunflowers,” Andrew Morgan’s “Bleeding Hearts,” and Taimi Arvidson’s “Cheyenne.”

Short Cuts adds 45 films from 30 countries across seven curated programs spanning live-action narrative, documentary, animation, hybrid filmmaking, and the Midnight Madness-adjacent Strange Cuts section.

World premieres include Camille Summers-Valli’s “Untitled Woman,” starring Julianne Nicholson and Charles Melton; Fala Chen’s “Bloodline,” produced by Colin Farrell; Michael Del Monte’s “Fight Kid,” executive produced by Derek Cianfrance; Shaunak Sen’s “Termite,” and Shamier Anderson’s directorial debut “Call Me Tim.”
